Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates recently shared his 48-year-old resume on professional networking website LinkedIn. “Whether you’re a recent grad or a college dropout, I’m sure your resume looks a lot better than mine did 48 years ago,” wrote one of the world’s richest man. The CV shared by Gates is before he started software giant Microsoft. It is of the time he was in the first year of Harvard College. He has also listed the courses taken. These include: Operating Systems Structure, Database Management, Compiler Construction and Computer Graphics. It further says that he is an Honour’s student and recieved ‘As’ in all the mentioned subjects. The CV mentions Systems Analyst or System Programmer as the objective.
The experience shared includes amix of computer languages and technologies: PDP-10, PDF-8, PDF-11, PDP-1, CDC-6400, Burroughs 5500, Nova 1200, MCS-8008, FORTRAN, COBOL, ALGOL, BASIC, machine language for most-of the above computers, LISP, JOSS, power control real-time systems, traffic flow analysis system, school scheduling and payroll. Incidentally, Gates is a college dropout. Gates dropped out of Harvard two years into his college education to start Microsoft with Paul G Allen. Many years later, talking about his Harvard days, Gates said that there is still one thing he regrets about his Harvard years. “Well, I wish I had been more sociable,” Gates told students at Harvard during in April 2018. “I wish I had gotten to know more people,” he said. “I was just so into being good at the classes and taking lots of classes.”
